League Example: Triple Team Men’s (Triples)

End-to-end setup and operations guide for a triples men’s league season.

This guide is for event directors, event managers, and organization admins.

What you’re running

A triples league where teams have 3 players (men’s division).

Model in Paddles Up

  • One Event with Type = League for the season
  • One Competition inside the event named Triple Team Men's
  • Teams are groups of 3 participants
  • Phases drive scheduling and standings (Group Play) and playoffs (Bracket)

End-to-end (UI flow)

1) Create the league season event

  1. Open Events.
  2. Tap New Event.
  3. Select the host Organization.
  4. In Event details:
    • Set Type to League
    • Set Date & time (season start / first play date)
    • Set Season end date (optional)
  5. Tap Create Event.

2) Add participants

  1. Open the new league event.
  2. Go to the Participants tab.
  3. Add all players for the season.

3) Create the competition

  1. Go to the Competitions tab.
  2. Tap Add Competition.
  3. Set:
    • Name: Triple Team Men's
    • Team size: 3
  4. Save.

4) Create teams (3 players per team)

  1. Open the Triple Team Men's competition.
  2. Go to the Teams tab.
  3. Create teams and assign 3 participants to each team.

5) Create phases

Go to the Phases tab and choose one of these patterns.

Option A: Regular season only (standings)

  1. Tap Add PhaseGroup Play.
  2. Configure:
    • Teams: include all teams
    • Number of groups: 1 for small leagues, multiple groups for larger leagues
    • Ranking algorithm: default is usually fine
    • Match variant: choose the scoring format you want
  3. Save.

Option B: Regular season + playoffs

  1. Phase 1: Group Play (as above).
  2. Phase 2: Bracket
    • Create after Group Play exists
    • Select the advancing teams (e.g., top teams from each group)

6) Run weekly play (operations)

  1. Keep the current phase Active during play.
  2. Enter scores from the match cards as matches finish.
  3. Use the standings table (Group Play) to track rankings week to week.

7) Finish the season

  1. When the final matches are complete, mark the last phase Completed.
  2. Set the event status to Complete.
