Managing Competitions
How to create competitions, add teams, and configure divisions within an event.
This guide is for event managers and directors.
A competition is a division within your event. You'll typically create one competition per division — for example, Mixed 4.0, Women's 3.5, and Men's Open would each be their own competition.
Creating a competition
- From the event detail page, tap Competitions (staff view).
- Tap New Competition.
- Fill in the competition details:
- Name — The division name (e.g., "Mixed 4.0")
- Format — Singles or doubles
- Team size — Number of players per team (1 for singles, 2 for doubles)
- Start time — When this division begins
- Prize description — Optional prize or award description
- Tap Save.
Adding teams
Teams are the units that compete within a competition. Each team is made up of participants already registered for the event.
Adding a team manually
- Open the competition detail page and go to the Teams tab.
- Tap Add Team.
- Enter a team name.
- Select the participant(s) for this team from the event's participant list.
- Tap Save.
Generating teams from participants
If participants have been assigned to the competition directly (rather than as teams), you can auto-generate teams:
- From the Teams tab, tap Generate Teams.
- The app will create individual teams for each participant (singles) or prompt you to pair participants (doubles).
Team ratings
Teams can have an optional rating that's used for seeding and display. Ratings can be:
- Manual — Enter a rating directly on the team
- Derived — Automatically calculated from the DUPR ratings of the team's players
To update a team's rating, open the team detail page and edit the rating field.
Editing and removing teams
- Edit: Open the team detail page and tap Edit to rename the team or change its members.
- Remove: From the team detail page, tap Remove from Competition.
Removing a team from a competition also removes them from any phases they've been assigned to. If a phase is already active, remove teams carefully to avoid disrupting the draw.
Next steps
Once your teams are set up, create phases to define how the competition is played:
