Kiosk Devices

How kiosk display boards work in Paddles Up — device pairing, status lifecycle, and display content.

A kiosk device is a TV or large display registered to your organization that shows live content during events — scores, announcements, or any text your staff configures. Kiosks run entirely in the browser with no app install required.

How pairing works

Each kiosk display is paired to your organization before it can show content. Pairing links the physical screen to your org so you can control what it displays.

The pairing flow has two sides:

  • On the TV — the kiosk app generates a 6-character code and QR code, valid for 15 minutes.
  • In the main app — an event manager or org admin enters that code (or scans the QR) to complete the pairing.

Once paired, the TV immediately begins showing your organization's configured display content.

Device status lifecycle

Pending → Paired → Deactivated
StatusMeaning
PendingPairing code generated; waiting for an admin to complete pairing
PairedDevice is active and displaying content
DeactivatedDevice has been disabled by an admin

After a power cycle

Kiosk devices remember their pairing across power cycles and browser refreshes. If the TV is restarted, the kiosk app automatically resumes showing your content without needing to pair again.

Display modes

Each paired device has a configured display mode that controls what it shows.

ModeDescription
TextShows a message configured by your staff
Score SheetShows a live match score-sheet view with grouped games/sets, score entry, and lineup editing

Display content is updated from the main app and reflects on the TV within about 10 seconds.

Managing multiple devices

Your organization can have multiple kiosk devices — one per screen or display area. Each device has its own name and display configuration, so different screens can show different content.

See Pairing a Device and Configuring Display Content for setup instructions.
